Work is part of life. What is important is to find work that satisfies your soul and allows you to give something back to society. I am a photojournalist in work and spirit. I grew up in the South among storytellers. It was a way to pass along family history and spend a warm summer evening out on the porch.
Writing and photography are the tools I use to tell my stories and those of others. Whether it is a client that wants a portrait that tells of who they are or a corporation wanting to elaborate on a recent event, stories are all around us. I shoot for corporations, magazines, newspapers, universities, portraits, product shots, gallery events and much more.
Many of the images I shoot end up in multiple end points. For example, the gallery Christmas exhibit was used as a tool for the artist and put into post cards for sale at the next opening. The images have also been used in magazine, newspaper and other print publications. They will part of a book on Christmas, also. These images have been used on types of media such as print, web, news and in textbook form.

Media is the brush that paints the pictures. Cameras, lenses, paper types and output media are in constant flux. Currently, the basic equipment for many of the images on this site is DSLR and medium format digital cameras. The output location for many clients is either on the web or in print media publications. Some images go to press for art prints or advertising and branding tools.
The final output determines how the image is shot and the tools used to capture the image. Equipment for a photographer is likened to the painter’s brush. It is a tool, but a personal tool that becomes an extension of the photographer’s imagination.

Future Focus… The future is interactive digital. More and more virtual worlds are opening up and still images can be combined with animation and 3D technology. I would like to work more with online magazines, create mini documentaries and use still images combined with 3D graphics to create new worlds.
Currently, I am building a small news magazine that focuses on stories not in the mainstream media. The goal of the magazine is to expand to print within the next three years. Journalistic responsibility, artistic creativity and positive stories that are covered in depth are going to be the meat and potatoes of the magazine. Stories covered would include ”Green” industries, science and technology, art and literature along with a section on interesting people making positive changes in society.
That being said, my push at the moment is to try and work in the “Green” industry on a photojournalistic level. I like working towards a new future using new technologies. The world is changing rapidly and each year it recreates itself. I think this is a wonderful time to be in media and hope to make a small impact that will benefit others in my business.
